EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

HOW IT WORKS

Booking a live online lesson is quick and straightforward, and you'll receive the same personalised coaching and attention as you would in an in-person lesson—all from the comfort of your own arena.

1. Book Your Lesson
Choose a convenient date and time that works for you. Once your lesson is confirmed, you'll receive everything you need to get started, including a link to join the session.

2. Get Set Up
All you need is a smartphone, tablet or laptop with an internet connection. Ideally, have someone available to hold the camera, although a tripod can also work well. Before we begin, we'll make sure your camera angle allows me to see both you and your horse clearly.

3. Train Live
During your lesson, I'll watch you ride in real time and coach you exactly as I would if I were standing at the side of the arena. You'll receive clear, instant feedback, allowing us to make improvements as you ride rather than waiting until afterwards.

4. Tailored to You
Every lesson is adapted to you and your horse on the day. Whether we're working on improving the basics, preparing for a competition, developing new movements or solving a particular challenge, I can adjust the session as we go to ensure you get the most from your training.

5. Follow Up & Keep Progressing

After your lesson, I'll send you a personalised lesson summary with the key exercises, coaching points and homework to work on before your next session. This gives you a clear plan every time you ride and helps you build on what you've learned.

WHO IS IT FOR

Live online lessons are suitable for riders of all levels, whether you're just starting your dressage journey or competing at the highest levels. Every session is tailored to you, your horse and your individual goals.

Online coaching is ideal if you:

  • Want expert coaching without the need to travel.
  • Don't have access to a regular dressage trainer in your area.
  • Would like more consistent support between clinics or competitions.
  • Prefer training in the comfort of your own arena, where both you and your horse feel relaxed and confident.
  • Are working towards a specific goal, such as improving your confidence, preparing for competition, moving up a level or simply enjoying your horse more.

I regularly coach riders from Intro through to Grand Prix, and every lesson is adapted to suit your experience, your horse's stage of training and what you want to achieve.

Whether you're looking to improve your basics, refine lateral work, master flying changes, prepare for a competition or overcome a training challenge, live online coaching provides the same personalised guidance and real-time feedback as an in-person lesson.

No matter where you're based, you can access professional dressage coaching designed to help you and your horse progress with confidence.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

What You'll Need

Getting set up for a live online lesson is simple, and you probably already have everything you need.

A Smartphone
A smartphone with a camera and a reliable internet connection (Wi-Fi or 4G/5G) is all that's required.

A Pivo or Pixem Robot Camera (Recommended)
For the best experience, I recommend using a Pivo or Pixem robot camera. These intelligent tracking cameras automatically follow you and your horse around the arena, giving me a clear view throughout the lesson without the need for someone to hold the camera.

Don't have a robot camera? No problem! A helper can hold your phone and follow you as you ride, or a tripod can also work for many exercises.

Bluetooth Headphones (Recommended)
Using Bluetooth headphones or earbuds allows you to hear my coaching clearly while keeping your hands free to ride.

A Safe Riding Area
An indoor or outdoor arena with enough space to work safely is ideal.

Before Your First Lesson

If this is your first online lesson, don't worry—I'll guide you through the setup before we begin. We'll check the camera position, sound quality and internet connection to make sure everything is working smoothly.

Within a few minutes, it will feel just like having me standing at the side of the arena, giving you live feedback and guidance throughout your lesson.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my internet connection drops out?

Don't worry! If the connection is interrupted, we'll simply reconnect and continue the lesson. In most cases it's only a temporary issue, and we'll make sure you still get the most from your session.

Do I need someone to hold the phone?

Not necessarily. For the best experience, I recommend using a Pivo or Pixem robot camera, which automatically follows you and your horse around the arena. If you don't have one, a helper can hold your phone, or a tripod may also work depending on the type of lesson.

Can I have a lesson outdoors?

Yes! Online lessons work equally well in both indoor and outdoor arenas. The most important thing is having a safe riding surface and a reliable internet connection.

Can I use an arena mirror?

Absolutely. Arena mirrors can be a really useful training aid alongside my coaching, helping you to see and feel the improvements we make throughout the lesson.

Can I record the lesson?

Yes. Many riders choose to record their lessons so they can revisit the exercises and coaching points afterwards. It's a great way to reinforce your learning and monitor your progress over time.

How long are the lessons?

Lessons are approximately 45 minutes, although the exact length may vary slightly depending on your horse and what we're working on. The focus is always on delivering a productive session rather than simply watching the clock.

I've never had an online lesson before. Will it feel strange?

Most riders are surprised by how natural it feels! After a few minutes you'll forget the technology is even there. I'll guide you through the setup beforehand, and once we're underway, it's just like having me standing at the side of the arena.

Are online lessons suitable for all levels?

Yes. I coach riders from Intro level through to Grand Prix. Every lesson is tailored to you, your horse and your individual goals, whether you're building confidence, improving the basics or refining advanced movements.

Will I receive any notes after my lesson?

Yes! After every live online lesson, I'll send you a personalised lesson summary, including the key exercises we worked on, the main coaching points and what to focus on before your next session.

This means you don't have to worry about remembering everything during the lesson. You'll have a clear training plan to refer back to whenever you ride, helping you continue making progress between lessons.

Can I have regular online lessons?

Of course. Many riders book regular online coaching to stay accountable, make consistent progress and receive ongoing support between clinics or competitions.
